You must own or have access to books you discuss (physical, digital, or library). ThinnestBook doesn't provide books. Quotes must be brief. No sharing pirated content or long excerpts.
# Book Ownership & Access Policy
## You Must Own Your Copy
By participating in discussions about any book on ThinnestBook, you agree that you:
- Own a physical copy of the book, OR
- Own a digital copy (Kindle, Apple Books, Kobo, etc.), OR
- Have borrowed it from a library or friend
You may NOT participate in discussions if you:
- Have not read the book
- Do not own or have access to a copy
- Are reading summaries instead of the full book
## ThinnestBook Does Not Provide Books
- We do NOT distribute, host, or stream books
- We do NOT provide digital copies, PDFs, or eBooks
- We do NOT link to pirated versions
- We DO link to official retailers and libraries
## Fair Use & Discussion
- Quotes are limited to brief excerpts (up to 500 characters) for discussion purposes
- Long copy-paste excerpts are prohibited
- All discussion must be based on your personal reading
- We facilitate discussion, not distribution
## Copyright & Intellectual Property
- Books discussed are copyrighted by their authors/publishers
- ThinnestBook does not host, stream, or distribute copyrighted content
- Members must obtain books through legitimate channels (purchase, borrow, library)
- We report infringing content to copyright holders
## Consequences
If you violate this policy:
- We may remove your posts
- We may suspend your membership
- We may report egregious piracy to law enforcement
## DMCA Compliance
If a copyright holder has a complaint, email dmca@thinnestbook.com with:
- Book title & ISBN
- Specific offending content (URL + quote)
- Copyright holder information
- Statement under penalty of perjury
We investigate and respond within 48 hours.
